Free Food @ Spicy Island
Grand Opening of
Spicy Island last
Saturday, May 19!
The great,
free Indian food and great
company attracted a full-house
crowd.
Four co-owners: Deepak Singh
(son of Amar Singh, famous owner
of the former Spicy Island),
Azim Shaikh, Arun Pundir and
Mr. Fernandes are all determined
to make this place a great
success.
Mixologist (& children football
coach & painter)
Sham Mat Nor was mixing up
his special drinks. The
Lamma Island Whisky Club had
a little impromptu tasting
session. A great place for
future parties, I think!
I liked the food so much I
returned the next day and paid
for my own delicious dinner! One
more regular dining & drinking place for us
(great selection of wines by the
glass). It's so conveniently
close to the YSW ferry pier
(formerly
Just Kitchen Georgian
rest.). I noticed the time just
5 minutes before ferry departure
and still made it comfortably!

Lamma 500 Video
Fantastic video by Official
Lamma500 Videographer
Donna Foreman! This
music video captures so well the
atmosphere of the 12-year-old
Lamma 500 International
Dragonboat Festival on Power
Station Beach on May 13, from
the competitive races to the
first-time-ever event of the
stage collapsing!
No
injuries, but lots of great
memories!

Ferry Ride Home
Some photos seem to strike a
nerve and become very popular
witin hours of being published.
Case in point, my photo of the
ferry home after work, from HK
Island to Yung Shue Wan. I took
this photo from my Pak Kok
rooftop last night at 6:45pm.
After posting it on
my Facebook Page it
became my most popular photo in
a long time, especially with my
mostly Lamma-based Friends, some
of whom were probably on that
ferry home from work on HK
Island. 163 Like, Love and even
Wow reactions in just 12 hours
so far (not that I'm counting!).
P.S. Surpassing
215 Likes/Loves and Wows by now.
I'm still not counting, but
Facebook does...

30Mbps Broadband Is (Very Slowly) Arriving
Some broadband distribution boxes are
getting power installed by HK
Electric these days: These
villages below might be next to
get max. 30Mbps
Netvigator broadband,
after Tai Peng is the only one
listed so far in the
service availability
maps on the Netvigator website.
(1st 3 photos courtesy of Andy.
Netvigator will charge over
$500/month and $980 installation
for this service which could be
up to 10x faster than the
current max. 3Mbps all over
Lamma. But unlimited data on 4G
mobile can be had for about half
this price. But speeds vary
widely by 4G service provider,
location, weather and time of
day, but you've got a choice
between several service
providers usually.
