Jan 31: Lammaguana
This cutie has become a real YSW
celebrity, appearing in many
photos by locals and tourists
alike! His elderly Chinese owner
loves to show him off along Main
Street, riding on his shoulder
or even atop his wide-brimmed
hat:
friend
Astrid Der Weduwe -Laeven)
This mild-mannered Iguana
doesn't seem to mind all the
attention and no bites have been
reported so far.
These are my favourite
Lammaguana pictures so far. A
lively
discussion and more
snapshots ensued right away.
P.S. Like all
too often, I couldn't resist a
few creative experiments with
this photo:
Jan 22: Tai Peng Sprinkling
Man
Lamma's local celebrity
Tai Peng Man,
created by Chris, in the
Tai Peng Community Garden
has been out of order for quite
some time. Now he's sprinkling
again, watering the lily pond on
demand. Don't resist the urge to
press the Big Button when
walking by!
I also couldn't resist a few
"creative experiments" with the
Geoff Smith:

"Rose the Flower Seller
has repositioned herself
strategically to keep an eye on
Tai Peng Man
and make sure he does not get
too flirty with those attractive
young tourists."
P.S. Plus a few
more, I couldn't resist my
creative urges:

Jan 18: Do You Like Going in Circles?
Do you like
going around in circles?
How about doing
it on the ocean off Power
Station Beach? In a real
dragonboat? With old and new
Lamma friends? With drinks, plus
BBQ (next Sun, Jan
27) afterwards?
Stop by at PS
Beach this or next Sunday and
have a try; you might love it!

Great turnout and great rack!"
Jan 15: Porcine Vandals @
Tai Peng Garden
Geoff Smith
("Visual Storyteller" in the
Closed (apply to join!)
Lamma Gardeners FB
group) writes:
"Porcine vandals are a real
headache in the Tai Peng Community Garden, so I'm
building a big beautiful wall on
the southern border. Call it a
fence or bamboo slats if you
wish, the important point is
that the pigs are going to pay
for it."
Group members replied:
"Don't worry all
democratically minded TaiPengers
support you!! Make TPCG GREAT
again!!"
"They're bringing oinks,
they're bringing grunts and some
of them, some of them are
probably good pigs."
(Tai Shan pigs, photo by Guy
Miller)
Geoff replies:
"Don't be too complacent -
there are about 4,000 of these
crossing into the garden every
week."
"Yet more ungulate mayhem,
so I have declared a State of
Emergency. All able-bodied Tai
Peng residents are to report for
wall-building duties at 6am
tomorrow."
This topic erupted all over
Lamma Facebook groups. Here's
one after this story in HK Free
Press was published:
Introduce hunters or natural
predators to curb Hong Kong's
wild pig population, says

you live here).
P.S. All the
boars around have inspired
several Lamma artists! My
favorite so far, this Boar Bin
Party by Sha Ponian Angelo:
I love that the flashlight is
revealing all the colours of
this nightly, exuberant
free-buffet party, while the dog
walker and everything else is
nightly B/W.
We'll find out soon more
about this Lamma Artist who's
observing Lamma's nature and
then lets his imagination run
wild, kind of like Lamma's wild
boars running free.
Jan 10: Beware of Online Deception
Warning leaflets distributed by
the Lamma Police, see above.
It's become such a growing
problem all over HK with
increasing financial losses, the
police has even set up an
Anti-Deception Coordination
Centre.
This Centre is a great resource
with fun illustrations, check it
out!
Jan 4: Generative
Adversial Networks
Art Machines: International
Symposium on Computational Media
Art
Recognise anybody? Ex-Lammaite
Ellen Pearlman
presenting her
Artificially Intelligent Brain
Opera!
I've
been dabbling in computer
graphics and
animation for 38 years,
exhibiting in quite a few art
galleries overseas, Hong Kong
and Lamma Island.
Recently, I've become addicted,
er, fascinated by generating
loads of Deep Dreams, using Deep
Learning AI neural networks. A
few of my recent creative
experiments:
https://deepdreamgenerator.com/u/lammagung
So when I heard about this
int'l, academic
Art Machines symposium
in CityU's School of Creative
Arts, I couldn't resist to
attend. I had to catch the very
first morning ferry, returning
on the last ferry tonight, a
first for semi-retired me, but
not for the fellow Lammaites I
met.
Very inspirational it was and I
learnt a lot about applying
Artificial Intelligence methods
in various art forms. Meeting
one current and one former Lammaite at
the symposium was a big surprise
as well. We're a very creative
lot here, but computer art is
still a rare, unappreciated
novelty on Lamma and in HK in
general.
Expect some new directions in
the weird stuff I like to
create, learning about the most
recent AI research in GANs
(Generative Adversial Networks).
P.S. Here's
some of my old stuff:
