The huge, record-breaking
emigrations from HK are in full
swing. Lamma as one of the very
best places to live in HK isn't
spared. So many friends and
acquaintances leaving HK,
restaurants closing, etc. Many
reasons as anybody following the
local news can imagine.
Goodbye and farewell, hope to
see you again someday in HK or
abroad:
Blue Goose Tavern,
Banyan Bay Cafe
(great farewell poem by Saskia
Kent),
Lala Mama,
Astrid, etc.
Bike and trolley clearance from
ferry pier to public toilet on
June 1, because you need to
"cease unlawful occupation of
the unleased land" .
That's a brand-new way of describing
the Govt. clearing and confiscating your
bikes, without any recourse or
any legal way of getting them back.
Does this new phrasing mean you
could apply to lease land on the
ferry pier for "lawful
occupation" of your own
private parking space?

LIFETIME
Exploring is in our nature at

gems' of both places and people
with stories to tell. Here we

Somebody is trying to remain
incognito, but the branded cap
(courtesy of
Lamma Brand),
the beard and the books make it
utterly unsuccessful. This
famous guy can't hide!
A frequent subject for
photographers and inspiration
for artists, I've collected
recent photos and artworks by
various artists in my 20-year
Lamma archive, adding them to
the website I've built quite a
few years ago:

I took this photo 10 years ago.
Almost nothing major has changed
since then overall, the harbour
and the "skyline" remain
beautiful, even though lots of
restaurants and shops have
changed and a few village houses
(nothing taller than 2 floors)
have been rebuilt.
The Lamma ferry pontoon on the
Aberdeen Promenade is
reopening today! The
renovation and a new passageway
with anti-slip surface (see
below) have been completed..
The ferries to Lamma's Pak Kok and YSW plus
the Po Toi Island ferry will use
the former longtime pontoon pier
again. No more temporary docking
at the Ap Lei Chau ferry landing
point (see
May 12).
This proposed new "Contaminated
Sediment Disposal Facility" will
be facing Hung Shing Yeh beach,
Power Station beach and even Lo
So Shing beach off Sok Kwu Wan.
2 of those are popular public
beaches. Details:

P.S. May 30: Voting

Celebrations all over Lamma, bars reopening today!
A few of our extremely
popular bars were clever, also
serving food, so they classified
as restaurants and didn't have
to close completely, unlike all
the pure bars, closed for months
and months. Party time!

The future SW-direction view
from most of the Lamma Family
Trail, starting in 2027! The
long-delayed windfarm project by
HK Electric has finally been
approved by Govt the other day.
But it'll take at least 5 years
to be commissioned and start
commercial operation:
Here's the full press release
from HK Electric, plus an
expanded SCMP story with replies
to FAQs about the windfarm,
especially environmental and
ecological concerns:

Planned for 2027 Commissioning
Hong Kong could get first
