"Underground is in its 13th show which may be
unlucky for some, but not for the Underground on Thursday, 13th October!
Taking a trek to the EDGE where in conjunction with the John Peel Day in
UK, Underground have 4 great, original bands on the scorecard: Music starts at 7:30pm. Free Entry as the Underground is ORIGINAL MUSIC for ORIGINAL PEOPLE." Click for website, map, poster.
"Steve has since decided to concentrate on RSR, although he and Overadogma’s Hamada remain good friends, with Hamada often joining RSR to play guitar on the song Lizard In A Jar and perform one of his own numbers with the band. RSR first started rehearsing in July this year but have come a long way since then. With a few months of Lamma Island gigs behind them now, the band have a pretty full gig diary throughout October and November and are set to record a single, "Last Ferry To Lamma". All of RSR’s songs are original. You can view a live music video of "Last Ferry To Lamma."
Gary Hill: "Greetings, lovely people, 'Tis time once again to strap on your Alsatian and get ready to bust a move to the smooth, velvety tones of the lads from Garoupa. Join the boys this Saturday (the 15th, 10 p.m.), at Amnesia* as they gurn and spazz about in a valiant attempt to be allowed to grace the stage at Hong Kong's very own Rockit Festival (Victoria Park, 12th & 13th November). There's no cover charge, and therefore no excuses. Tell your family, alert your neighbours, bring your friends (especially if they're saucy) cos nobody, that's right, nobody, wants to miss this show. Let's be 'aving ya"
Steve Cray: "It's great to be playing Lamma again, our first gig here since our debut at The Island Bar on Sep 3. Since then we seem to have been all over the place, playing Hong Kong side - The Venue, Amnesia and The Edge etc.
The poster says: "You are invited to join the comrades for a night of postmodern blues and melodic rock... but it should perhaps add, and a good old-fashioned Deli party afterwards. Probably not a good idea to have anything important to do on Sunday morning! After the Amnesia gig some of us got to bed way past 6am.
"Guests so far include Harry and John from the Yung Shue Wankers and Hamada from Overadogma, although there is talk of Barney from Nude sitting in on percussion if he's around . . . but who knows who else might join in. Red Star Rising is playing at home, which means there's a signal 8 party warning in force!"

"Did I forget to mention Guitars & Panties are playing this Friday and their slogan is "Sometimes we wear them, sometimes we don't..." Find out if they are!!"
"Guitars & Panties: Hong Kong has never seen
anything like new band GUITARS AND PANTIES. Their name suggests
naughtiness, and indeed the girls are up for it. Says band founder Chris
B, "Sometimes we wear panties, sometimes we don't." Won't their image be a
problem in staid Hong Kong? "We don't care", says bass player Shirley. "We
are what we are. If you've got it, why not flaunt it?
"This will be the biggest club cricket sixes tournament in the world! And it's being organised by Lamma Cricket Club! A total of 34 teams are taking part - including 13 overseas from as far away as Australia and the UK. This year the accent is on family and friends - there'll be a "Cricket Village" with bouncy castles and plenty of stalls and games organised by the Make-A-Wish Foundation to raise money for their charity in HK. All are welcome - admission free!

Don Cohn, one of the founding members of the Textile Society of Hong Kong, first moved to Hong Kong over 25 years ago, though he now spends most of his time in New York city. Living and working here allowed him to indulge his passion for collecting rare, antique and beautiful embroidery and folk art during his various travels and adventures. He is well known as a Chinese scholar, collector, tour guide, journalist and expert in all things Chinese. With his knowledge and love of Chinese culture, Don was one of the pioneers in the field of bringing Chinese textiles to the attention of the wider world. From the early 1990s, he has led specialist tours to China to study rare textiles in the backrooms of the museums and to meet important scholars in the field. Please drop in to see his eclectic and fascinating collection, and to ask him about things Chinese. This truly is a not-to-be-missed opportunity to purchase some beautiful pieces to treasure."
Sat, Dec 10, 9pm, Island Bar: "Greetings, one and all! Consider yourselves invited down to ye olde Island Bar, this Saturday, for an evening of musical entertainment courtesy of Garoupa and Transnoodle, the freshest, tastiest new addition to Lamma's musical smorgasbord. Things kick off at around 9, so get there early, and remember -- the more you drink, the better we'll sound. See you there."
We're playing all original music, penned by the good
Mr Saeki, and I guess it can best be described as Lamma-inspired Ska
with Latin roots. This will be our debut gig, and there are no
pics as yet, but hopefully we'll get some good action shots on the night.
Transnoodle will be playing first, knocking out about half a dozen tunes,
followed by Garoupa. Pretty scant info, I know, but the best I can do at the moment. Come along and check it out. Thanks for your superb promotional tomfoolery".
